NAME Spottedrose
GENDER She-cat
CLAN ShadowClan
RANK Queen
AGE 31 moons
DESCRIPTION Ginger marbled tabby she-cat
APPEARANCE
Whoever named Spottedrose has a sense of humor. There's not a single spot found anywhere on her body. The closest that her markings come to being spotted is the dark ginger tabby swirls found on her body. Spottedrose is a light ginger marbled tabby. Her pelt is stricken through with thick, swirling tabby stripes. The thinnest of the stripes found anywhere on her is on her forehead, where each and every individual stripe is about the width of a claw. Her eyes are a wide almond shape, and the coloring is a mixture of bright yellow and light green.
Being made of pure-blooded ShadowClan, Spottedrose is of a medium-sized build. She isn't bulky enough that she can use her weight in a battle, but she isn't small enough that she can wriggle into tight spaces that might be befitting of a newly made warrior. Her ears are slender and shell-shaped, with thick tufts at the top. Her paws, like the rest of her size, aren't too big or too small. The most that can be said for them is that they have sharp claws that make it easy to grip onto trees when she's climbing.

PERSONALITY
Spottedrose is feared among the warriors among the other Clans. When new apprentices are taken to Gatherings, their mentors point her out and tell them never to take her on in a fight. Her claws are sharp and her accuracy dangerous. She's been known to send more than one warrior squealing back to camp, wailing. Her tongue is as sharp as her teeth. Even her own Clanmates do their best not to get on her bad side, because it's terribly hard to get out of it.
For those few who get on her good side, they have one of the best body guards they'll ever find. Spottedrose is protective of those she loves unconditionally. Her friends, family, mate, and kits will always be defended by her, whether they've actually done something worth being defended about or not. Even if you didn't want her to protect you, you're out of luck. Once you get on her good side, that particular opinion is rejected.
Keep in mind, though, that Spottedrose never forgets when you've wronged her. Whether she forgives you or not is another question entirely, but she will never ever forget it. She still remembers when Vixentooth put ants in her nest as apprentices, even when she got her revenge. When Chillfur betrayed her by lying to her about Icefang, she ignored her brother for an entire season before eventually missing him. But she still holds grudges for a long while.

HISTORY
Featherstripe and Ringtail were friends for most of their lives. Most being the operative words. There was one point in their lifetime when they absolutely detested each other, but that was because of outside forces that neither of them could control. When they were finally able to get beyond first appearances, they discovered that there was something about them that just clicked in all the right places. So they courted each other when they became warriors and eventually became mates. Featherstripe was expecting kits sooner rather than later.
Three kits were born on a lazy newleaf day. The eldest was named Vixenkit, for her ginger fur. Chillkit was named for his paws, which looked like he'd stepped in snow. All four of them are white. Lastly was named Spottedkit. Ringtail had named her, and he actually took quite a bit of abuse from Featherstripe for giving their youngest she-kit a name that didn't fit her at all. He just thought it was funny.
Apparently, so did the other two. Vixenkit and Chillkit, for the first three moons of their months, made fun of their baby sister. They gave her the nickname Splotchkit, saying that it made about as much sense as her actual name. It lasted until Spottedkit finally blew up at them and wailed for all of camp to hear. Vixenkit and Chillkit, as punishment, were confined to the nursery while Spottedkit was still allowed to roam about.
After that, all was cool. The siblings played together with more respect than before, which wasn't really saying anything since they were kits. Ringtail visited them whenever he pleased, whether he was supposed to be on patrol or not. It was probably from him that Vixenkit learned to be the trouble-making prankster that she is now. He takes it as a testiment to his 'sheer epic awesomeness'.
At six moons, the three were made apprentices. Vixenpaw gained the warrior Dapplewind for a mentor. Dapplewind was a stern and firm she-cat who didn't put up with any nonsense. No doubt the leader's hope was to make Vixenpaw take a bit of seriousness in life while Dapplewind would learn to lighten up a bit. It didn't really work out as well as the entire Clan had hoped, since all that happened was Vixenpaw being made to look after the elders at least once every moon. Chillpaw was mentored by Ebonyfoot, a tom who was as relaxed and chilled as he was.
Lastly, Spottedpaw was given the mentor Kestralfeather, a she-cat who was every bit as stingy and bitter as leaf-bare was cold. No matter how well Spottedpaw performed her given tasks, Kestralfeather never had a good thing to say about her. Instead of the phrase, "If you don't have anything bad to say, you shouldn't say anything at all", she followed the phrase, "If you have anything bad at all to say, say it. It builds character!" That was her excuse at least. It hurt Spottedpaw's self-esteem that the one cat who she wanted to compliment her refused to.
But Kestralfeather's treatment of her apprentice did do some things good. If she ever told Spottedpaw to correct anything or work on something, Spottedpaw did it beyond anyone else's expectations. She grew into a brilliant hunter and fighter, all for the sake of earning one kind word. Even Dapplewind, who usually found fault in anything, had to say that Spottedpaw was the best apprentice in her den. A hard worker and fast learner, she was passing assessments even better than the elder apprentices by the time she was only nine moons old.
This was noticed by the older apprentice Icepaw, a gray and white tom. He was a modest apprentice who knew there was always room for improvement, and so he was soon going to the younger apprentice for hints and tips on his own assessment. Icepaw and Spottedpaw grew quickly into good friends. Spottedpaw spent more time with him nowadays than with her own siblings. It was realized by them too. Vixenpaw soon grew jealous that Spottedpaw was getting all of the attention, and played more and more pranks on her. Putting red-ants in her nest, hiding a thorn in the elder's bedding and blaming it on her, stuffing her fresh-kill with mouse-bile, the list goes on and on!
By the time Icepaw gained his warrior name of Icefang, he and Spottedpaw were in love. Oh, neither of them realized it just yet. In fact, the only one who recognized the signs were Chillpaw. He, too, became jealous of his baby sister. Why in StarClan's name should she be the star of the den and get a mate first? It was always, "Spottedpaw did this", or "Spottedpaw did that"! Every single day, he'd hear about how great his littermate was. He hated it.
So he devised a plan. He told Spottedpaw that Icefang told him that he was waiting for her somewhere in the territory. Then he told Icefang that she was looking for HIM in the territory. He brought in a third player, a she-cat who was a few moons older than Icefang. He knew for a fact that Fireflower had a crush on Icefang. Chillpaw told Fireflower that Icefang wanted to see her, and that he had something important to tell her.
Chillpaw's plan rested solely on none of them seeing each other until Icefang and Fireflower were together. Luck was on his side, though. Fireflower found Icefang by himself, looking up at the sky. Icefang was confused at first, until Fireflower started to make a speech on how she'd loved him for a while, and that's she'd been 'waiting for this a long time'. He had no idea what was going on, until she twined their tails together.
That's how Spottedpaw found them: pressed together with their tails twined together and their heads rubbing against each other. She felt her heart break into pieces and fled the scene, ignoring Icefang's cries and pleas for her to stop and listen. She ran through the forest until she crashed right into Chillpaw's side. He was going to gloat about it until he saw her face. He'd never seen his sister, usually so composed and dignified, such a complete mess. Tears were streaming out of her eyes and her chest hurt from all the sobbing and panting she'd been doing.
So Chillpaw took her back to camp, doing his best to shield her from them all. As jealous as he was of her, he'd never meant her any real harm. He just wanted her to see how it felt to always be second best. But he didn't want to get into trouble either, so he played it off like it was Icefang's fault. It led to the crumbling relationship between Spottedpaw and Icefang.
Warrior/Queen
For moons after their warrior ceremony, Spottedrose ignored Icefang. He was nearly desperate to get her attention again. He did everything he could to get her to forgive him. He left flowers on her nest, brought her fresh-kill when she was lazy, hunted and fought with her whenever the situation called for it.
Each time Spottedrose came close to forgiving him, Chillfur would remind her of what Icefang did. Of how he played with her feelings and betrayed her. It would renew her anger all over again, and she'd go back to avoiding and ignoring Icefang, pretending he didn't exist.
Fireflower was taking this opportunity to flirt with Icefang in the open. She didn't care that he didn't love her like she loved him. She didn't care that he was padding after Spottedrose like a starving cat after a feast. Icefang would be hers, and she wouldn't let anyone get in her way, especially Spottedrose.
It got to the point, however, that she just couldn't stand how Icefang crawled after Spottedrose. He got depressed when she looked right through him. No matter how crazy she went about it, she really didn't like seeing him so upset. So in Fireflower's mind, the only way to remedy it is to get rid of Spottedrose.
So that's what Fireflower tried to do. She didn't really have a plan to go on. She kept a distant watch on Spottedrose, waiting for the opportune moment. Finally, a few moons later, she had her chance. Spottedrose went out to hunt alone. It was only by luck that she was by the ThunderClan border. If Fireflower played her cards right, the Clan would think that Spottedrose was ambushed by the enemy Clan.
Fireflower stalked Spottedrose like she would prey. She kept downwind, stayed light on her paws, and kept her tail and belly from touching the ground. Spottedrose was concentrating on hunting. She wouldn't have noticed if a monster came roaring right at her. When it seemed like the perfect moment, she leaped at Spottedrose with claws unsheathed and teeth bared.
She underestimated her Clanmate, though. Spottedrose, while shocked, didn't hesitate to defend herself. Their fight was loud, loud enough to draw attention to themselves. Icefang, who'd been coincidentally hunting as well nearby, came to see what was going on. When he realized what was happening, he leaped on Fireflower and threw her as far and as hard as he could, hoping to give himself and Spottedrose time to prepare themselves for another onslaught. He needn't have bothered. When he threw her, she broke her neck by landing on her back wrong.
They stayed there for the rest of the day, talking and ignoring Fireflower's dead body. They learned about what happened that day, when everything between them went to dung. They learned of Chillfur's deception of all three of them, Spottedrose and Icefang and Fireflower. They learned that they still had feelings for each other, despite everything that's happened. So they became mates.
To say that Spottedrose was angry with her brother was an understatement. When she went back to camp with Icefang carrying Fireflower's body, she was furious. She yowled and snarled and spat at Chillfur so that the whole Clan knew what had happened. Vixentooth was just as angry at Chillfur as Spottedrose, and Chillfur was helpless against their combined onslaught. They left him stuttering and saddened and apologizing.
The sisters ignored his very existence for a few moons. It wasn't until Spottedrose learned she was expecting Icefang's kits that she forgave Chillfur, though she tends to take advantage of his guilt. Now she has three healthy kits: Graykit, Smokekit, and Fernkit. Graykit and Smokekit take after their father in both size and pelt, while Fernkit inherited her mother's dark ginger and tabby pelt.
