Hello! Welcome to the rules section. This area acts not only as a list of rules, but as a guideline for behavior, character creation, etc. You'll be able to find all sorts of important information here (as well as on the other threads here in this information section) and we require you read this section before you begin role playing here on Remembrance.

general rules.
OOC/BIC There is no need to use ooc or bic here. As long as you post in the right section, you're fine.
ACCOUNTS Remembrance is a one-account-per-character forum. I know, I know, some people hate the tedious workings of having to create an account for every single character you make, but it definitely helps with organization. If you get staff, you will be asked to make a main account under YOUR name and that is the account that will be given staff powers. All of your character accounts will keep their current ranks. We allow special characters in account names, just don't overdo it.
RESPECT No fighting. If you have an issue, please take it elsewhere or PM staff for help. We will try our best to resolve your problems, but you shouldn't be fighting in the first place. Respect each other - how would you feel if someone acted harshly towards you? Also, as staff, we do not ask for more respect than normal members - everyone here is equal - but I cannot guarantee that staff will appreciate harsh behavior toward them.
OBNOXIOUS BEHAVIOR Now, here at Remembrance, we encourage craziness and enjoyment. We want the site to be a fun, laid-back community. However, there is a line between being fun and cool and being just downright obnoxious. We do not tolerate spamming or annoying behavior. This means posting repeatedly on one or more threads when it is not necessary, messaging staff consistently for admin powers, etc. We will give you a warning for behavior/spam, but if you continue, it may result in your permanent removal from the site.
LANGUAGE We allow cussing here - just don't do it more than needed. Cussing in every single post doesn't make you cooler, it just kind of peeves other people and makes us uncomfortable.
OOC LITERACY Our site is not so uptight as to set a minimum word limit for out of character posts. You can type as much or as little as you wish. Also, we won't bug you about spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc in ooc posts. Chatspeak is totally fine - just don't do it excessively - but L33TSP3AK is not. We want to be able to understand you!
EXPLICIT CONTENT Because we have to abide to proboards rules, Remembrance is a PG-13 site. We don't really care about age, but please know that our role play and out of character posts may contain content not suitable for minors (I sound like a movie warning or something xDD). There will be violence, cussing, etc on the site; however, we forbid sexual content or harassment of any kind. Your cats can love each other, but if you want them to have kits, just plan it out in the "Storyboard" area or do a fade-to-black scene while role playing (planning it in the storyboard area is still encouraged).
IMAGES, SIGNATURES, & AVATARS The maximum avatar size is 100x100px (width-height). Anything bigger than that will automatically resize and look stretched / ugly. Signatures are, of course, allowed, but please don't make them so wide that they stretch out the boards. Also, we have installed image size limits - the maximum size for images is 600x900px. Any images bigger than that will automatically resize.
ACTIVITY Activity is obviously important on this site, but we won't force you to come on every day. All that we ask is that you login and post in the c-box or forum at least once a week, and post a role play post once every three weeks. If you're going to be gone for a little while, or leave the site, please PM me with all your account names to let me know. We occasionally have member sweeps, so be active to make sure you aren't one of those people being deleted from the site!
CUSTOM TITLES Notice how I have that fancy little text under my rank? If you'd like that as well, PM me with what you want in your custom title - however, if you want one, it will cost you 100 catnip. You can view how much catnip you have by looking on your profile. (you earn 10 catnip with each post you make - so 100 catnip equals 10 posts)
STAFF People will earn staff positions by staying dedicated to the site and helping out with several things, such as activities and organization. When I am choosing staff (with the help of my other admins), I will announce it here on the boards and in the updates. If you do not want staff (or the certain position I am choosing), then PM me and let me know. Also, don't be disappointed if you don't make staff! It doesn't mean you're not as good as other people or anything like that; we trust and love everyone here on the site, and would never play favorites. (:
CLAN HIERARCHY When your character account is made, we will put you into that character's membergroup. Your character's rank is defined by the color of his or her character account's username. Currently we are letting everyone who isn't staff role play one high-ranked Clan member each. To role play a leader, deputy, medicine cat, or MCA, please PM me first with the position&Clan you want. Spots are limited, so if there are no more leader/deputy/meddie/MCA spots open, please do not bother to ask. Most ranks aren't required to do a lot, but everyone still needs their guidelines. (: [scrolly:h(200), sy] LONERS, ROGUES, KITTYPETS: These cats should not outnumber the amount of Clan cats, but we place no limit to the amount of loners, rogues, and kittypets you may role play. Just make sure that you find a way to integrate these cats into normal role play and use them as often as your Clan cats.
KITS, QUEENS, ELDERS: When your character is going to have kits, it would be wise to plan it out in the "storyboard" section. Before the arrival of the litter, plot how many there will be, who will role play them, birth dates, etc etc. Your cats can have more than one litter, but an average cat can produce about 5 litters a year. Although cats can have more than four kits, we will limit each litter to four (or five, if you can manage) kits. Be sure to look up information on cat pregnancies and learn as much as you can. You can shorten the time of a cat's pregnancy (a typical pregnancy is 9 weeks) to one month or more. Also, instead of having to wait six whole moons (months) before kits become apprentices, we break that time down to one month - or two, if you need more time to develop your kits. Once your kit is ready for mentoring, PM me and I will update their status to apprentice, and then it is your duty to find a mentor. As for elders, you can either kill off your cat once it gets old, or choose to send him/her to the elder's den. Either choice has to be talked about with staff, so PM a staff member once you decide.
APPRENTICE: As an apprentice, it's your duty to make sure you learn all there is to learn. Yeah, I know that you might already know all the battle techniques or herbs, but still, as your character's role player, it's your duty to have your apprentice play stupid and learn all there is to learn, even if you've learned it already yourself. Of course, not every apprentice learns everything immediately, so be realistic - your character might stumble while performing the battle move they just learned, or forget some of the herbs the medicine cat taught them the day before. An apprentice is made a Warrior or medicine cat when their mentor feels it's the right time. At the "right time," your mentor will notify you and your Clan's leader's role player of your graduation, your Clan's leader will perform the Warrior Ceremony over Private Messaging. From that point, your character account will be updated to the "Warrior" membergroup, and you can change your account name to your character's new name.
WARRIOR: Warriors hunt and fight for their Clan. They follow the Warrior Code to defend their honor and prove their loyalty. However, not every warrior is perfect - your character can't win every fight, catch every piece of prey. Be realistic and have your character mess up a few times. As a warrior, the biggest responsibility is mentoring your apprentice. If your character becomes a mentor, it's your duty to role play each lesson with your character's apprentice. We require that you have at least three battle training sessions and five patrols/hunting patrols with your apprentice before your apprentice can become a full-grown Warrior. For medicine cat apprentices, we require one battle training thread and three healing threads (healing threads are threads where the MCA displays their knowledge of herbs by tending to another Clanmate - AKA, using herbs). We will not require that your apprentice must go to the Moonstone before graduating. Once your apprentice is fit to become a Warrior/Meddie, notify me in a PM, including with links to all the training threads you've had with your apprentice. I will then notify your Clan's leader, and the leader will then hold the Warrior or Medicine Cat Ceremony with the apprentice over PM. The leader will then PM me with the information, and I will proceed to upgrade the apprentice to a Warrior rank.
MEDICINE CAT: Medicine cats provide wise advice and healing to their Clan. As a medicine cat, it is your duty to know the proper uses of herbs and tend to your Clanmates ailments or wounds. We have a handy-dandy herb guide with more than enough information. Medicine cats often stay out of Clan rivalries. A medicine cat and their apprentice (or just the medicine cat, in some cases) will both travel to the Moonstone every half-moon (15th day of every month). There they will visit and seek guidance from StarClan.
DEPUTY: Deputies are the second-in-command of every Clan. When a leader passes away or retires, the deputy takes over as leader and gains their nine lives by traveling to the Moonstone. As a deputy, it is your job to lead and organize patrols. You may also be asked for advice by your leader, in or out of character.
LEADER: Leaders have the most responsibility of all. They manage their Clans and provide order. Each leader is given nine lives - however, when you create a leader, you must update with your leader's amount of lives every time he/she loses one. When your leader loses his/her last life or retires on his/her last life, the deputy takes over. Leaders are in charge of updating their Clan's allegiances (as well as mods and staff), making apprentices into warriors, etc etc.
STARCLAN&DARK FOREST: Generally, when a cat dies, he/she is moved to either StarClan or the Dark Forest. If you truly believe your cat is evil, then please PM staff to ask to move your cat to the Dark Forest when he/she dies. You are not required to role play StarClan/Dark Forest cats. You're allowed to make them, too, just not too often as they're more-or-less minor characters right now. [/scrolly]

role play rules.
INFORMATION I know you might know a lot about Warriors already, but please keep in mind that I've put together some guides in this information section that will prove to be EXTREMELY useful during role play. It's advised that you look at those guides, because they have a lot of in-depth information on hunting techniques, styles, battle tips, Clan rules, etc etc that you may not have even known before.
TERRITORIES We role play in the original Clan territories, not in the new ones. You can check out our helpful boards in the information section and find a map on the Warriors website.
CHARACTER BIOS We have a pre-made character biography form in the "rough draft" area. You should use that and fill out all the required character information, plus whatever else you may want to add to it. If your biography is not finished or fixed within two weeks, it will be moved to the archives board, where you can later reclaim it if you wish to continue it. AFTER YOU FINISH YOUR BIOGRAPHY, REPLY TO IT SAYING YOU'RE DONE. If you don't respond, your character won't be accepted - and that's that. Once your character is done and you have posted that reply, a staff member will reply saying your character is accepted and proceed to move him/her to the accepted board. After that, you are free to role play.
CHARACTER TABLES Feel free to use 'em. You can request some here in the graphics shops or from other sites, too. We encourage them because they look really nice, and other members agree, too.
COLORS&POWERS&JUNK This is a traditional role play. NORMAL cats - NORMAL colors - NO POWERS. Your character can have small accessories that a normal cat could have. But things like scarves or piercings (unless you have a really good reason for it) are not allowed; we're pretty sure cats don't have the mental capability of understanding the use of things like that.
OOH-LA-LA Once again, no in-character sexual content. If you want kits, write out a fade-to-black scene or just skip that and go ahead and plot out your litters in the "storyboard" area.
LITERACY Here at Remembrance, we're pretty laid-back on literacy. We definitely WANT literacy, but seeing as we're semi-lit+, we aren't too uptight about it. Our minimum word count is 100 words. Yep. That's it. Cool, huh? Now, seeing how small that limit is, we always encourage writing more than that, even if it's just a sentence more. We don't want any one-liners though. As for grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc; it's alright if you make some mistakes here and there. But please look over your posts as many times as you can for errors. Use spell check, too, if you can.
ACCOUNT PER CHARACTER A reminder, we are an account per character site. For more info on how we run accounts here, read the general rules section for a more in-depth description.
CHARACTER CUSSING Although we allow cussing on the site, be warned about in-character cussing; we role play cats. Think about it. Not all cats may know a lot of curse words. We allow in-character cussing, but we discourage it if your cat has no way of knowing certain words. Just remember that while role playing.
CHARACTER LIMIT We have no character limit. Just make sure none of your characters (except maybe StarClan / Dark Forest cats) get dusty. Use them as often as possible; if you made the character, it would be a waste not to use them.
LIQUID TIME Liquid time is okay, just don't do it A LOT - your character shouldn't be in more than three threads at once. However, threads like meetings, plot threads, gatherings, etc do not count.
STARCLAN VISITS Your cat cannot receive signs from StarClan (or the Dark Forest) without asking me first.
RELATIONSHIPS Female leaders, deputies, and medicine cats are forbidden to have kits. If this happens, they will be punished by StarClan, and may lose their position or even be exiled. Forbidden relationships are okay here, just not too often. We also allow slash pairings, if you so wish, but they cannot have kits. Also, try your best not to plan out two cats becoming mates before even creating them unless you have to; it really makes things less exciting. For your cats to have kits, they must have had at least three threads together and both members must want the kits.
ADOPTION If one of your kits is not adopted by a role player within two weeks, it will "die."
PLOTS If we have a site-wide plot going on, your cat shouldn't know more than it's been let on about. Even if you know the plot from start to finish, your character shouldn't until it gradually finds out about everything. Also, you need at least one other person to create a mini-plot. We do not currently have a site-wide plot. Take this time to develop characters and just have fun.
BATTLING If your characters are about to fight, we do not require some special form. Just keep it organized and use common sense - meaning that the character with the best advantage (ex: a swift, nimble cat will probably beat a fat, slow cat) of the fighting characters will win. And don't let fights drag on and on just because you want your character to win; if your character falls, a miraculous recovery most likely wouldn't occur. Also, do not powerplay/godmod while fighting. Simply have your character perform an action, then the other character counter-attacks. You can plan out who wins a fight before-hand, too. If you seriously are having trouble choosing a winner, PM an Admin; they will intervene and it will be voted on by staff. Bad example: "Butthead quickly lashed out at her opponent's face, scouring deep claw marks in their flesh and pushing them back." Good example: "Butthead took aim and quickly lashed out at her opponent's face, hoping they wouldn't dodge at the last moment." - - something like that.
